The teak wood has the highest oil content among all wood. The old growth teak has the higher oil content than teak wood harvested under 50 years of age (minimum usable teak wood needs at least 50 years). To show the oil content, a simple test is dropping the water.....with the high oil content, the wood would not absorb water for several minutes..... so, after 5 minutes, no water was absorbed....one indirect proof that the teak was probably coming from old growth...another indirect proof is when the furniture was made....if made prior to xxxx, then it was likely to be old growth teak...cause some time after that, the old growth teak was forbidden to be harvested from the producing countries...mainly Indonesia, Thailand....

Europe, such as Denmark, Norway, is the place using teak as the preferred wood for high-priced furniture...not much here in USA
No teak can be grown in Europe, America and most asian areas ( such as China and Japan)
This rare cabinet / buffet was made from over 100 years old old growth teak, with oil content so high that water cannot penetrate it. See photo for detail The photo was taken 5 minutes later after a significant amount of water was placed. No amount of water was absorbed.
All solid teak in and out, extra fine, warm sanguine color and fine grain. All dovetail connection. Light panel emits lambent light, producing peace of tranquility. In exquisite condition, unparalleled quality.
Stainless hardware parts, produced by Hettich, W. Germany, were used. (No one can buy anything made from W. Germany any more.) This master piece was made in Denmark, imported to the USA circa a quarter century ago. ( not being made anymore. The labor is simply too intensive, and the difficulty in finding qualified master carpenters.)
